PR Manager – Stylus Media Group

We have a hugely exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, savvy and highly motivated PR Manager to join our growing team. We are bringing PR in-house so this is a newly created role responsible for designing and implementing the PR strategy across the Group.

The ideal candidate will be a public relations guru with experience in promoting business intelligence products and events. Together with heaps enthusiasm and your sense of fun, you will come armed with tons of great ideas and contacts to drive business growth through our PR strategy. 

What you will bring to the role:

  • Your experience with planning and management of PR strategies, international PR campaigns and other industry specific PR projects
  • Your ability to identify relevant and newsworthy content across the Group that will generate maximum coverage through targeted relevant media (UK, overseas, trade and consumer) 
  • Knowledge and know-how of developing brands into industry leading brands, owning PR projects ensuring you get buy in from relevant internal stakeholders to ensure your plan is fully executed
  • Exceptional copywriting skills and attention to detail which will be reflected in press releases and other bespoke copy that you produce
  • Your analytical expertise to determine what systems for measurement and benchmarking we need and use the information gathered accordingly
  • Your natural networking abilities to build relationships with industry figureheads, influencers and partners with the aim of raising profiles and identifying opportunities.

Senior Trends Writer - Retail

We are looking for an experienced b2b writer with a passion for retail technology as well as the knowledge, cultural smarts and industry expertise to join our team as Retail Editor. This role is responsible for helping develop one of Stylus’ key content sections, dedicated to tracking insights and innovations that affect the retail industry.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of Stylus’ business and the needs of our subscriber base. Highly proactive, you will have great contacts, heaps of enthusiasm, and the high levels of organisation needed to work as part of a dynamic growing team.

Key requirements and skills:

  • Educated to at least degree level in a related discipline.
  • Exceptional ideas generation, writing and visual analysis skills are essential.
  • Four-five years’ experience working within the retail and/or trend forecasting industries enabling you to bring a thorough, strategic working knowledge of all aspects of this sector - including store design, marketing concepts and digital commerce. 
  • An in-depth understanding of how retail (across all sectors from fashion to sport to food to automotive, and everywhere beyond) is influenced and motivated by wider cultural, social and technological change is also vital. 
  • You’ll also have an acute awareness of and the ability to analyse the intersections between the retail industry and other businesses within the creative sector – enabling our clients to exploit key, as-yet-uncharted opportunities, in addition to need-to-know existing tactics. 
  • A keen appetite to get deeper under the skin of new technologies, changing consumer attitudes and values (globally) and fresh modes of engaging consumers.  
  • Experience of working in an editorial capacity within a fast-paced environment that requires juggling deadlines across both short and long-form content, ranging from daily blog posts and weekly reporting to long-term Macro, cross-sector trend analysis, as well as liaising closely with contributors and other sections of the business is essential. 
  • You will be comfortable supporting the Head of Retail, on all aspects of research and development, as well as working independently on reporting. You will also relish managing junior members of the Retail and, where necessary, wider Stylus team in order to develop a thoroughly explored, unified vision for our business. 
  • Enjoys building presentations and public speaking 
  • You can also expect to travel, engage in client-facing meetings and work on bespoke advisory projects for selected partners.

Fashion Content Researcher / Assistant Editor

We are looking for a Fashion Content Researcher or Assistant Editor to work within our busy Fashion team. With an emphasis on our Fashion Forecast and Catwalks Analysis, the role is an exciting and varied one encompassing production responsibilities, image and content research, short form writing and client-facing opportunities. 

What you will bring to the role:

  • Your experience of working within the fashion editorial, retail or trend forecasting industries
  • Excellent research skills – both image and content based (including macro socio-economic, cultural and business-led thinking)
  • An understanding of and an innate feel for both creative Fashion Forecasting and accurate Catwalks Analysis
  • A knowledge of both historical and technical fashion references including textiles
  • Experience of writing short form fashion-based content – such as blog posts
  • An interest in exploring broader cross-industry trends and influences
  • A willingness to develop presentation skills and become involved in client-facing activities

The role requires the ability to understand marketing, growth, strategy, NPD and design issues a B2B client may have, and position Stylus as a solution to these issues. 

Our clients’ requirements will often extend into advisory, so the role requires a candidate comfortable with a volume approach to sales, as well as one able to cultivate longer term C-level relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-10 years B2B sales experience (preferably subscriptions), preferably gained selling into B2C companies and agencies. 

To be able to fully articulate the Stylus offering, the candidate must have a demonstrable interest in innovation, marketing, branding and design. Impeccable presentation skills are essential.
