Earlier this year, US supermarket chain Walgreens introduced QuickPrints – an app allowing users to print photos from mobile devices in store locations nationwide. Now, a new app created in collaboration with Facebook enables users to print directly from the social site.
“We are providing customers with more creative ways to share special moments with friends and family,” Walgreens director of digital marketing said. “Users can now preserve the social comments around their favourite photos, which is a powerful part of the Facebook experience, while enjoying the lasting memories that a printed photo provides.”
The Walgreen PrintWorthy initiative capitalises on the instantaneous nature of mobile and social media photo sharing and allows users to create a physical expression of the digital world. Considering more than 300 million photos are uploaded to Facebook globally every day, Walgreens is tapping into a dense potential market.
