Private Luxury: Submersible Superyachts
Demonstrating the desire for privacy among high net worth individuals (HNWIs), a new breed of luxury superyachts can be fully submerged underwater. Engineered and built by Austria’s Migaloo Submarines, the multi-storey boats can be sailed conventionally above water, or turned into fully operational submarines.
The superyachts measure between 72m and 283m in length, and can be designed according to clients’ needs. The crafts can be set up for personal or professional use, with suggested features including a helipad, split-level viewing galleries, a restaurant, a conference centre, a library and up to eight VIP suites. Each model is built according to US Navy safety standards.
This unusual form of transportation promises “ultimate freedom and privacy” with the ability to travel comfortably and inconspicuously through rough seas, while also discovering the wonders of deep-sea wildlife.
As many luxury experiences become accessible to a wider range of consumers, HNWIs are seeking new levels of luxury that focus on exclusivity and privacy. See The New Rules of Luxury for further insight into this emerging consumer objective.
