Calorie-Tracking Earrings

Ear-o-smart earrings

Canadian tech start-up BioSensive Technologies is developing smart earrings called Ear-O-Smart, which can help wearers to monitor their fitness levels and overall health.

The company wanted to create a female-focused wearable that could be worn all day – not only during physical activity – to create a fuller picture of the wearer’s health. The end result consists of a universally compatible earring attachment that sits behind the ear and works with the wearer’s existing jewellery collection.

Like other fitness trackers, the product will be able to measure heart rate, calories burnt and activity levels, as well as food and drink consumption.

In a similar vein, Stylus has previously covered an ear-worn wearable that tracks and analyses eating habits by measuring chew count and likely calorie intake. For the latest on wearables migrating to new locations on the body, see Wearable Technology Show 2016
