Chinese Car Brand Eyes European Market
Chinese automotive brand Qoros is planning to launch its first compact saloon model next year, when it will begin the process of entering the European car market.
The company is a 50/50 joint venture, based in China, between manufacturer Chery Automobile and investment company Israel Corporation. It was established in 2007 and began testing prototype vehicles in 2011. A range of cars, including electric vehicles, is planned.
Qoros vice-chairman Volker Steinwascher said: “As a new company, Qoros has been able to attract a wealth of international talent who are leveraging their global auto-industry experience to create an entirely new brand that offers an original product to consumers.”
Qoros will have an initial production capacity of 150,000 cars per year.
