New York-based tech start-up Lasting has launched an app of the same name that provides a mobile, personalised and affordable way to maintain a happier, healthier marriage.
It learns how a couple's relationship functions over time via their responses to a series of questions and creates a bespoke programme tailored to their needs. This includes engaging five-minute sessions, exercises and quizzes that proactively strengthen relationships in areas such as communication, conflict and sex.
A 'share and compare' function allows partners to display their answers side by side, grouping them into areas of strength, growth and discussion. It's able to determine automatically which areas are most important for a couple to talk about or work through together. The app also helps users to embed healthy habits – such as expressing appreciation, prioritising emotional connection and asking about each other's day – into daily married life.
"In an age where apps help people with everything from dieting and physical fitness to mental health, there was a surprising lack of apps to help people build their relationship and marriage health," said founder Steven Dziedzic. "If we succeed, in 10 years, proactively working on your marriage will be a cultural expectation."
A monthly subscription costs $11.99 for a primary user and their partner.
