A 17-minute online documentary released on online video platform YouTube by Barack Obama’s US presidential campaign sheds light on the important role the internet and social media will play in the upcoming election.
The documentary, titled The Road We’ve Travelled, details Obama’s tribulations and triumphs over the past four years. Viewers are able to connect the video to their Facebook page and can also donate to the Obama campaign through YouTube. This effort highlights how political campaigns can go beyond traditional television ads and utilise web platforms.
Mitt Romney’s campaign is using similar technology, where users can volunteer, donate and share content all through his YouTube Page.
