At this year’s Imm Cologne furniture fair (January 16-22), luxury manufacturers are turning their attention to the needs of affluent urban dwellers – resulting in modular and highly functional pieces suitable for smaller living spaces.
- Recline & Relax: German luxury label Rolf Benz launched two new ranges of functional relaxation sofas, with side components, backrests and headrests that fold down in different directions for a multitude of seating options. The Agio series is contemporary and compact, with elaborately stitched-through upholstery, while the slender Mera modules, available in fabric or leather, enable numerous compositions.
- Social Sofa: Known for its bespoke interiors and high-quality furniture, Dutch design studio Piet Boon presented the sumptuous modular couch Bo. The rounded L-shaped units can be arranged into an intimate closed setting or positioned to create an open, S-shaped seating area for mingling – making it a suitable option for the hospitality industry.
Keep an eye out for our full coverage of the show, publishing on February 1. In the meantime, see our Imm Cologne 2017 Preview, as well as last year’s coverage of the event.
