Pantone x Kia: Car-Interior Mood Lighting
Pantone created a palette of seven nature-inspired ambient hues for the car (which offers 64 lighting options in total). Colours such as blue, green, orange and purple, taken from natural environments like the ocean, forest and sun, were all designed to put the driver at ease.
The lighting features throughout the cabin in the door panels, footwells and trim details, illuminating the vehicle with a soft, coloured glow. See Directional LEDs in CMF Industry View: Automotive Update for more on illuminated cabin details.
The mood lighting combines with the car’s minimal interior layout and sophisticated materials such as matt wood trims and soft leathers to create a peaceful retreat.
“We knew Kia wanted the K900 to be something more than a mere mode of physical transport – more like a space for rest or tranquillity, [to] relax and recharge, even for inspiration,” said Laurie Pressman, vice-president of the Pantone Color Institute.
