Opening Ceremony’s New Magazine

US fashion brand Opening Ceremony is dipping its toe into publishing with the launch of a new fashion and culture magazine, the OC Annual, earmarked for an August launch.

Coinciding with the London Olympics, the launch will be themed around the event with a focus on sport – an interesting move for a brand known more for its contemporary, fashion-forward aesthetic. “As magazine fanatics, we are aiming to create a collectible publication for a new generation, something beautiful and special in the vein of Benetton’s Colors, Comme des Garçons’ Six and Joe McKenna’s Joe,” says Opening Ceremony founder Carol Lim.

Opening Ceremony has fostered edgy and successful collaborations in the past, such as with film blockbusters Tron and Where the Wild Things Are, and goes to great lengths to establish itself as culturally significant. We are looking forward to seeing how these annual themed issues promote the brand, and whether the title will be able to cut through the noise of the saturated magazine market.
