Bedtime VR Stories lets parents tell their children bedtime stories via virtual reality

Working in collaboration with the London arm of ad agency BBH and UK production company Unit9, Samsung has prototyped Bedtime VR Stories, a virtual-reality (VR) app that allows parents to read to their children remotely.

“Parents will be able to tell their children a bedtime story like no other, with both parent and child transported to far-flung worlds and galaxies, interacting with dinosaurs, arctic animals and robots,” according to Samsung.

The app prototype is currently being tested on VR headsets with families across the UK, and aims to provide relief for parents who typically miss bedtime due to work or commuting.

“However far apart they are, parents will be able to share that all-important bedtime story with their child, using VR technology to connect them in the same virtual world,” writes Samsung. “The child will even hear their parent reciting the story and be able to interact with their parent as though they are in the same room.”
