London fashion college Central Saint Martins has released a new student fashion magazine called 1 Granary, named after the address of the school’s new King’s Cross campus. The magazine is produced by Central Saint Martins’ students with the aim of debuting student work while simultaneously highlighting and working with those who inspire them.
With an impressive roster of alumni including designers Christopher Kane, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo (Celine) and Riccardo Tisci (Givenchy), the magazine has an exciting array of ex-students to reach out to for features and contributors. The debut issue includes an interview with Topshop creative director and Central Saint Martins graduate Kate Phelan, as well as previously unpublished images of stylist and editor Katie Grand’s work as a second-year knitwear student at the college.
Student editor Olya Kuryshchuk summed up the fresh, creative ethos behind the magazine, instilled by college professor Louise Wilson: “We can fail as many times as we want. There are no rules.”
Priced at £12 ($18), 1 Granary is available to buy online now and will be on newsstands from May 21.
