Pre-Fall 2015: MM6 Maison Martin Margiela

Pre-Fall 2015 MM6 Maison Marting Margiela

The utility-inspired collection by MM6 Maison Martin Margiela offers strong direction for denim and confirms the utility and military trends seen on the S/S 15 catwalks.

The androgynous range of boxy, oversized silhouettes offers particularly strong direction for denim, with cropped wide-leg jeans covered in paint-splatter effects, pillow-case dresses and a hybrid teddy fur rider jacket all offering design direction for millennial and contemporary product.

Directional details include apron-style tabard tops and dresses featuring supersized eyelets – see Women’s Catwalk S/S 15: Details for more on this trend. A voluminous sweater dress featuring the slogan ‘More than just your favourite MM6’ in billboard-sized lettering also echoes the trend for bold, typographic-style statements seen on ‘slanguage’ slogan tees and accessories. For more on this, see: Slogan Bags

There were khaki pieces too, which channelled the collection’s utility vibe in a more military direction, while the fisherman-style pant and grown-on sleeve detailing offer a distinctly Japanese feel. For more on military and Japanese looks, both key trends for the forthcoming season, see Women’s Catwalk S/S 15: Themes.
