Christmas 2015 Confirmation: Symbol

Our Christmas 2015 Design Direction Symbol encompasses an extravagant aesthetic that blends together rich details from ancient civilisations and Art Deco. Here we explore how this luxurious direction has reached the market, and the inspirational seasonal accessories and décor available this year.

  • Colour is drawn from materials, with simple pairings or single-hued designs placing focus on the bold silhouettes of this direction. Rich natural tones are drawn from cut stones, which are found in polished finishes and inlaid with metal details.
  • The look is defined by gold, found in both brushed and high-sheen finishes. Softer grey metallic tones and mirrored finishes temper the opulent feel, providing a more affordable price point.
  • Elaborately crafted decorations feature emblematic shapes and graphic sculptural objects. Distinct motifs of stars and linear geometrics point towards the iconography of ancient cultures.

Look out for visual confirmations of our other Christmas 2015 Design Directions, Illusion and Funland, publishing next week. In the meantime, see our Christmas 2016 Design Directions Ornate, Stellar and Wonderland for forward-looking festive inspiration.
