Boutique hotel The Dylan in Amsterdam has added a high-end shopping concierge service to its roster of guest amenities, enabling time-poor guests to have items delivered to their rooms within an hour.
Dubbed Room Shopping, the service has been developed in partnership with luxury shopping website 9straatjesonline – an online boutique for the city's fashionable shopping district, De 9 Straatjes, in which the hotel is also located.
Guests can access the service via an in-room interactive screen, which pulls up a dedicated shopping menu where they can browse a selection of fashion, beauty and lifestyle products. Ramping up the convenience factor, if any items are unsuitable, guests can return them by simply taking them down to the hotel reception area.
Fast-turnaround deliveries and returns are of growing value to consumers. For more on this topic, as well as further information about delivery initiatives, see New-Gen Fulfilment, part of our Roaming Retail Industry Trend.
Tapping into the desire for less-effort retail initiatives that don't compromise on service (see The Streamlined Sell, also part of Roaming Retail), the Room Shopping service comes as part of an overnight package. It comprises a double room, complimentary drinks and discounts on purchases over £100 using the shopping service.
