Carved Books by Guy Laramee

Canadian artist Guy Laramee has used old books as the medium for his miniature sculptures. Currently exhibiting near Quebec, his Guan Yin series features old encyclopedias and thick books carved with landscapes of mountains, valleys, caves and waves.

Completed this year, his meticulously painted piece The Web (pictured) is part of this series of ‘altered’ books. A mountainous terrain carved out of a Webster Encyclopedia uses the existing printed astrological chart as part of the sculpture’s story.
