Beauty Boosters Transform Product

The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops

Bridging the gap between quick-fix, multitasking products and hyper-personalised formulas, booster drops that transform existing skincare and colour cosmetics products are the latest trend to hit the beauty market.

Available in 24 shades, Canadian colour cosmetics brand Cover FX’s Custom Cover Drops allow users to add pigment to any skincare product to create a DIY foundation, using weightless “Flash Fusion Technology” and lecithin for easy blending. French brand Sephora’s Radiant Luminizing Drops can be used as a skin highlighter or mixed with foundation and moisturiser, while British chain The Body Shop recently debuted Shade-Adjusting Drops – available in Lightening or Darkening – which can “help turn an ‘almost there’ shade into the perfect one”.

Part of the Toronto-based Deciem beauty stable, Hylamide’s concentrated serums offer specialised seasonal skincare, including Glow Radiance Booster. This lightweight, DHA-free formula evens skin tone and promises a subtle, tan-like glow in two to three days when applied between cleansing and moisturising. Meanwhile, Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Booster is an antioxidant-rich concentrated oil that can be mixed with face and eye creams for an extra shot of moisture as and when needed.

Booster powders are the latest craze from Korea (see The Korean Beauty Boom for more). These tiny capsules house active ingredients like vitamin C that are most potent and effective before coming into contact with air. The powders can be applied directly to skin or added to products like serums and creams. Dr Dream’s Dream Age Radiance Powder Essence boasts rose stem cells, distilled rose water, grapefruit and yuzu extract for a deeply hydrating treatment.
