Zara’s Roman Flagship

Spanish fashion retailer Zara has fused history and modernity to create a palatial yet minimal flagship store on Via del Corso in Rome. Architects Duccio Grassi have redesigned the grand 5000m2 space of the 120-year-old Palazzo Bocconi for a modern audience.
The interior is a mixture of contemporary and traditional elements such as steel supports, which stretch across the impressive main atrium, and classical pillars that feature heavily on each floor. The blend of styles results in a cohesive retail environment, despite the vast space.
