Ladurée Announces Cosmetics Line
Paris-based luxury cake and pastries brand Ladurée – famous around the globe for its pastel-coloured macarons – has announced the launch of a debut colour cosmetics collection.
Entitled Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée (The Wonders of Ladurée), the line will include 20 different blushes, as well as foundation and lip colours. Created by Japanese luxury cosmetics manufacturer Albion, the range will launch in Japan in February 2012, followed by Europe, the US and Asia in the autumn.
The line marks Ladurée’s second foray into the beauty market – and its first into the colour cosmetics market. The company first tapped into the beauty industry in 2007 with the launch of The Ladurée Beauty collection, which comprised of face and body creams, as well as home fragrances and candles.
Similarly, Parisian make-up brand Lancôme, owned by international cosmetics giant The L'Oréal Group, has drawn colour inspiration from the pastel rose hues and retro shades of macarons for its Spring 2012 beauty line. Designed by Lancôme’s make-up artistic director Aaron de Mey, the Roseraie des Delices range of eye shadow palettes, lipsticks and lip glosses will launch in stores and online at Lancôme from January 1 2012. Prices are reported to start at £18.
