Challenger Smartwatch: Ticwatch 2
Expected to be released in the US and Europe from September 2016 with an earlybird price tag of $99, the device smashed its $50,000 fundraising goal after just three days on the crowdfunding platform last week, receiving the backing of more than 3,000 international donors.
In addition to an English-language update, the Ticwatch 2 boasts a 1.4-inch, always-on OLED display, GPS, a dual LED optical heart-rate sensor and step counter. Android and iOS compatible, the smartwatch can display notifications, send replies to incoming messages and control music playback on the phone. Apps that will allow users to order food, book a cab or search for local restaurants with voice command are currently in development.
For simplified navigation, the device blends touchscreen functionality with a unique side scroll, or patented ‘tickle strip’. Challenging Apple’s Siri, it also boasts its own voice assistant, activated with a flip of the wrist, or by saying the phrase: "OK, Tico."
