Stella & Dot’s Social Shopping Comes to the UK

US jewellery brand and e-commerce company Stella & Dot launches in the UK today. Founded by American working mother Jessica Herrin, the company aims to give flexible working opportunities to women by enabling them to host social Stella & Dot shopping events, buying and styling items with friends in the comfort of their own homes.

Stella & Dot produces affordable, on-trend fashion jewellery that is sold exclusively from the Stella & Dot website or through social-shopping events called trunk shows, independently hosted Stella & Dot Stylists. Women can set up their own franchise of Stella & Dot with a personal e-commerce site, or simply host a Trunk Show for the jewellery, receiving discounts for themselves.

Originally conceived in 2003, the company was ranked the 67th fastest-growing company in the US by Inc. 500 in 2010, and surpassed the $100m sales mark in the same year. Stella & Dot encourages social shopping, turning it into a social event with a sense of community. This is reflected in the company’s approach to supporting its Stylists and Hosts, with an emphasis on 24/7 online training and support from a personal Stylist Mentor.

In addition to offering career opportunities to women, Stella & Dot supports charities ACCION USA, BuildOn, and Girls Inc by donating the net proceeds from its collection of Foundation friendship bracelets.
