Close the Tap

South African water conservation organisation Flow has launched Close the Tap – a Twitter-based initiative that urges people to share water-saving tips to generate awareness surrounding wasted water.

On the website, a live ‘Flowcam’ visualises a running tap that symbolises wasted water. Every tweet contributes to turning off the tap, with 10,000 tweets stopping the tap completely.

Water scarcity is one of today’s most serious environmental issues. See the Stylus Drylands Design Conference for architectural strategies to alleviate water scarcity in the Western US.
