Delta x Alessi: Elevated Airline Tableware Design

Alessi x Delta

US airline Delta has worked with high-end Italian design company Alessi to create an 86-piece collection of flatware and cutlery for its premium-class cabins.

Based on popular items inspired and designed by six of Alessi's 300 designers, the range includes flatware, crystal glassware, bone china, silverware and tableware such as salt and pepper shakers and napkin rings. Designers involved in the project include Parisian brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, and Brazilian duo the Campana Brothers.

Delta road-tested the range in-flight over the past year, gathering feedback from customers and flight attendants to ensure the items were fit for purpose. The serviceware is now available for first class, Delta One and Delta Premium Select flyers. The collaboration forms part of a multimillion-dollar customer experience upgrade, which also includes chef-curated meals, a seasonal wine programme and wi-fi access on all flights.
