Johnny Depp Publishing

The post-World War II Beat movement is enjoying renewed interest thanks to the release of Hollywood blockbuster On the Road (an adaptation of Beat writer Jack Kerouac’s hit novel) and a number of exhibitions profiling its distinctive art.

Now American actor and Beat enthusiast Johnny Depp has announced a move into publishing, launching his own imprint at HarperCollins, Infinitum Nihil – meaning “nothing lasts forever”.

Depp pledges to profile “authentic, outspoken and visionary ideas and voices” and deliver “publications that might ordinarily have never breached the parapet”. Depp has already planned a title based on American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan to be released in 2015.

Although celebrity endorsement in retail is losing influence (see Retail’s New Brand Ambassadors report for more), we will be keeping an eye on this venture and the interesting work it might produce.
