Montauk Retreat

New York City-based advertising agency Chandelier Creative is going one step further to ensure the health and happiness of its employees.

The company has set up Surf Shack – a new kind of bohemian enclave in Montauk, New York – designed to foster relaxation through the therapeutic pastime of beekeeping.

The son of Australian honey farmers, Chandelier Creative founder Richard Christiansen planted his retreat with native coastal flowers, including honeysuckle and echinacea, for a special honey blend. Christiansen says: "Making honey is a true labour of love. My family has always said that happy bees make sexy honey – and the same is true for creatives."

For more examples of people seeking respite and relaxation through the vehicle of craft, see the Macro Trend Control & Create.
