Expedia Partners with Amazon Alexa

Amazon Alexa - Expedia skill

Online travel-booking company Expedia has collaborated with Amazon to add a new skill to the e-tailer's voice-activated personal assistant Alexa.

Expedia customers will now be able to ask Alexa questions about existing flight reservations and book corresponding car rentals, with the device offering three different price points and vendor options. Users can also request information such as the number of loyalty points accrued through their Expedia loyalty programme. Customers aren't yet able to book directly through the skill, but Expedia is working towards adding this element in the coming year.

This is the first voice-activated search product for Expedia. It follows rival travel search engine Kayak's similar collaboration with Amazon earlier this year, which also allows customers to check flights and search for travel ideas. Both join several brands currently partnering with Amazon Alexa, including pizza chain Domino's, taxi app Uber and global bank Capital One.
