Fast-Track Restaurant Booking For AMEX Platinum Members

American Express

According to global financial services company American Express (Amex), dining is the number one spending category and most popular request through its Platinum Concierge service. Responding to this, it has launched a new in-app restaurant booking platform for its platinum members.

Its booking service will allow customers to instantly book from thousands of restaurant options directly through its banking app.

In 2019, Amex acquired New York-based restaurant booking app Resy, whose software is used by over 4,000 restaurants in 10 countries. The financial company has now incorporated this software into its own banking app, along with its own American Express Global Dining Collection, a partnership with UK booking service Bookatable and New York-based booking platform SevenRooms, to offer users a choice of over 10,000 restaurants.

Currently only available for some of its premium platinum members, the perk will be rolled out more widely in 2020 .

This move into the hospitality service space chimes well with the thinking explored in How To Incentivise Loyalty, whereby brands can foster loyalty from consumers by providing access to memorable food and travel experiences.
