Soft Touch: World Basics Tokyo

Local architecture practice Schemata has taken over the ground-floor reception of Tokyo’s World Trade Center with an orderly display of clothing and furniture under the banner World Basics 2013 AW.

The emphasis is on design that is built to last, both in terms of looks and quality, but that also has the capacity to move and adapt with the times, “according to demands of the society or advancement in technologies”, as Schemata put it. In this case, that has translated to furniture that features unexpected elements – blocks of soft solid foam embedded in wooden units.
