The Spare Room: Stay and Play

Transporting game playing into the luxury arena, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has opened The Spare Room, an ultra-upscale games lounge featuring two reclaimed bowling lanes and bowling shoes designed by Los Angeles shoe designer George Esquivel. The room also boasts custom-built backgammon tables.

Owners Marc Rose and Med Abrous combine cocktails, culinary bites and playfulness with the aim of offering a Hollywood nightlife experience that mirrors parties hosted in the up-scale parlours of the early 1900s.

Already generating a major buzz, expect to see similarly play-infused venues popping up in cities around the world.
