Fitbit for Emotions

San Francisco-based tech start-up Sentio has created a prototype wristband that determines the wearer's emotional state.
Feel contains four sensors, which track bio-signals from the wearer throughout the day – including galvanic skin response, blood volume pulse and skin temperature. A proprietary algorithm then translates the signals into emotions and transfers the data to an accompanying app via Bluetooth.
The app visualises the results, providing personalised recommendations based on advanced psychological techniques. The visualisation shows how the wearer's mood is influenced by a range of factors, such as their environment and interactions with other people.
In addition to issuing wellbeing-boosting notifications – such as a prompt to laugh more – the app also offers users the chance to create a long-term emotional wellbeing plan. The wristband will become available in December 2016, at an early-bird price of $149.
As we predicted in Beyond Wearables, part of our Post-Digital Macro Trend, mood-reading devices are proliferating.
