Mary Portas Launches Fashion Collection

British retail consultant and TV personality Mary Portas has launched a fashion and lifestyle collection with UK department store House of Fraser for older (and often overlooked) women. The collection includes fashion, gifts, homewares and food for the over-40s.

After the role of creative director of luxury department store Harvey Nichols, Portas went on to found brand communications company Yellowdoor, and later shot to fame with her TV programme, Mary Queen of Shops, in which she dissected the pitfalls of the retail and service industry. She is currently consulting for the UK government on a project to help rehabilitate British high streets, with thousands of retailers closing during the economic slowdown.

The Mary & House of Fraser collection has been launched with its own concept store in House of Fraser’s Oxford Street store in central London, but it is also available to buy online. The entire project, from conception to execution, features in a three-part Channel 4 TV series, titled Mary Queen of Frocks, scheduled to air in October. Retail prices for womenswear start from £50.
