Sketch’s New Pad

British artist Martin Creed will transform the Gallery restaurant at London’s food, art and music venue Sketch into a unique exhibition, event and restaurant space rolled into one from March 1 2012. The transformation will coincide with Sketch’s 10th anniversary, and will be the first of a new programme for artist-designed restaurants at the venue.

Artwork will include 96 different types of marble zig-zagged across the floor, and a series of large-scale wall paintings. The restaurant will utilise unique chairs, tables, glasses and cutlery, ranging from antiques to contemporary design from all over the world. And Sketch’s co-founder and French master chef Pierre Gagnaire will draw inspiration from Creed’s work to create a selection of dishes.

Elsewhere, self-proclaimed urban fine art gallery Circleculture Gallery in Berlin has also sought to bring food and culture under one roof by opening the In the Mix – a gallery on the second floor of the Alte Münze, which visitors traverse to enter the restaurant and club below.
