The Water Tank Project

The Water Tank Project by US non-profit arts group Word Above the Street is a New York public art initiative to raise awareness of preserving water – highlighting the need for major cities to lead the way in sustainable water use.

For 12 weeks starting in spring 2013, artists, musicians, scientists and New York City residents will transform the city’s 10,000 water tanks to show their take on the issue. Prestigious US artists due to design water tanks include noted pop artist Ed Ruscha, documentary photographer Catherine Opie and hip hop historian Fab 5 Freddy.
