Cannes Lions: Sneakerpedia

Billed as “the greatest sneaker archive”, digital agency SapientNitro highlighted the importance of integrating culture with commerce in its Sneakerpedia seminar at Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity – an advertising industry event held in the south of France.

Designed for sportswear retailer Footlocker and described as “a community space, not a marketplace”, Sneakerpedia is a crowdsourced online database for dedicated ‘sneaker heads’, allowing them to share images and detailed information about their trainer collections.

SapientNitro’s project was noted in a number of presentations at Cannes, and stood out to Stylus as it clearly serves the needs of a well-defined cultural community. Despite still being a beta site, Sneakerpedia has already triggered 4.5 million tweets.

The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity runs until 25 June 2011.
