I Want To See Something Else

Created by Elissa Eriksson as part of her MA thesis at the Aalto University School of Art and Design in Helsinki, Finland, Haluan Nähdä Muutakin (I Want to See Something Else) gives a small piece of commercial outdoor media back to the people.

Using Facebook, Eriksson encouraged 1,458 people to donate €6,000 to keep 21 bus shelters ad-free for a week in Helsinki, replacing them with posters printed with a non-commercial message.

In addition, the posters displayed 1,311 messages from participants, suggesting what they would like to see in their urban space instead.

The bus/tram stop exhibition ran from January 24-30 2011.
