Hotel 1000 in Seattle has installed infrared sensors in its room doors in order to detect occupants and avoid disturbing guests.
The sensors, which detect body heat, allow housekeeping staff to know whether the room is occupied by displaying the results on a door panel, signalling whether they should request to clean the room, or leave guests to rest.
Sleep has become a luxury for increasingly time-poor guests. To combat this, hotel brands are creating rooms and spaces that enhance rest and relaxation.
