Colour and Space by Jotun

Image-sharing network Pinterest has become the go-to destination for millions seeking interior decoration inspiration. Aiming to tap into this popularity, Turkish home-paint brand Jotun commissioned a study into the most popular paint colours according to Pinterest boards, called Colour and Space.

Danish designers Mie Frey Damgaard and Peter Ørntoft analysed data from Turkish Pinterest boards and created a range of infographics based on their findings. The research revealed that white is favoured in kitchens and bedrooms, while pale pink is the most popular option for children’s rooms.

However, the designers are keen to point out that this project is based on Turkish Pinterest users only, and that the colours would change depending on the region. For example, Scandinavian users tend to favour lighter colours, so their results would yield higher proportions of white and grey.
