NYFW: Advanced Style Fashion Mob

Advanced Style, the mature style blog and book created by New-Yorker Ari Seth Cohen, staged a surprise fashion show with a rebellious streak during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) on Sunday.

Numerous stars of the blog walked a makeshift ‘runway’ in the middle of Lincoln Center, the hub of NYFW, attracting attention from street-style photographers and fashion-week goers in between shows. In attendance was Jacquie ‘Tajah’ Murdock, an 82-year-old former dancer and Advanced Style regular who was recently chosen by French fashion house Lanvin as the face of its Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign.

Once again reiterating that style is not reserved for the young, the senior fashionistas – aged between 60 and 95 – demonstrated the eclectic, avant-garde looks Advanced Style is famous for before the impromptu fashion show was dispersed by the police. However, an undeterred Cohen stated on the site that he hopes the Advanced Style gang will be able to do something even bigger next season.
