Diane von Furstenberg for Gap Kids


New York-based fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg has collaborated with American retailer Gap on a mid-priced range of childrenswear and babywear, set to launch in the UK next week.

Following a long line of high-end designers entering the kidswear market, such as fellow Gap Kids collaborator Stella McCartney, Belgian-born von Furstenberg designed the line for girls aged newborn to 14 years old. Drawing from her experiences as a mother and grandmother, the colourful spring collection comprises practical jersey dresses, T-shirts, leggings and swimwear. All items are branded with a ‘DvF hearts Gap’ logo and feature the label’s signature hibiscus prints and leaf motifs sourced from its own vintage archives.

Having found fame in the 1970s with her iconic wrap dress, the piece has been appropriated with a higher waist to suit smaller frames. Sunglasses, espadrilles, sandals and other accessories accompany the range. Launched in the US last week, the full collection will be available in UK stores and online from March 28. Prices range from £20 to £120.
