Mobile Sewing Circle

The worlds of digital communication and traditional crafts meet in this workshop and exhibition touring Sweden.

Threads – a Mobile Sewing Circle – invites participants to embroider a text message to share fragments of everyday conversations with others, exploring questions about how we meet, communicate and express ourselves.

The transient nature of the assembly and the slow process of embroidery enables time to share stories and concerns with the community.

The next event takes place in Gåxsjö community centre, from March 30 to April 4 2011.

The project is the subject of an academic paper written by Kristina Lindström and Åsa Ståhl from School of Arts and Communication at Malmö University.
