Zebar, Shanghai

Digital 3D modelling has inspired the interior of new live music bar. Zebar in Shanghai was designed by Architects 3Gatti based on the virtual spaces they had created in the studio.

By slicing the white walls to create 3D stripes on the black background (like a zebra) 3Gatti created texture and cemented the space in the real world. Far from its roots in machine-based design, each separate section of the interior was cut by hand

This sliced wall effect creates an undulating tunnel structure with benches lining the walls. A black and white striped floor and circular bar sits in the widest section of the Z shaped building.
