Turn Me Op

Antwerp-based multimedia artist Irene Alvarez gives tapestry a contemporary twist with a series of illustrations on fabric that mix op art with ethnic art and pop culture.

Her first solo show, Turn Me Op, at Brussels’ retail emporium Hunting and Collecting, comprises a textile tepee, a limited series of T-shirts, and three woven tapestry artworks with a psychedelic clash of pop-culture icons and op-art patterning.

Turn Me Op at Hunting and Collecting runs until July 14, 2001.
