Lucy McRae: Dream a Little Crazy

Australian creative Lucy McRae and British spatial experimenter Rachel Wingfield have directed the latest video for Australian indie pop band Architecture in Helsinki. Titled Dream a Little Crazy, the music video features shots of swirling and poured liquid colour, as band members experiment in a surreal laboratory setting known as the Biological Bakery.

Lead singer Cameron Bird plays the role of a presumably mad scientist, carrying out wacky investigations to combine confectionery construction and human cloning. Candy-coloured fluids and foams burst across the clinical white space whilst the clones are being produced.

McRae’s short film for Australian skincare brand Aesop is also set in a laboratory setting, and is profiled in our Lab colour concept for Autumn/Winter 2014-15. This science and technology-fuelled theme also illustrates a chemical-inspired palette and explores the clean use of colour.

Look to our report Colour In Suspension for more on the aesthetic of liquid colour and texture in free-flowing forms.
