Online Luxe from Monnier Frères

Paris-based brothers Guillaume and Jean Monnier are hoping to conquer the online luxury accessories market with their new e-tail site, Monnier Frères, when it launches today. (5th July).

The site will be launched across the European Union in 17 different languages, starting with French, followed in September by English, Italian and German. The roll-out will continue until January.

The site will sell bags, sunglasses, scarves, hats, gloves and small leather goods, with the brothers promising to stock more than 60 high-end and hard-to-find brands including Alain Mikli, Alexis Mabille, Balmain, D&G, Elena Meyer, Jerome Dreyfuss and Ragazze Ornamentali.

Investors in the site (according to French website Fashion Daily News) include Marc Simoncini, founder of Meetic – Europe's biggest dating website – and senior board member at fashion house Chanel, Françoise Montenay. The brothers themselves are already veterans of the luxury sector. Guillaume's CV includes roles as vice-president of Dior Japan and director of Jitrois, while Jean has specialised in e-commerce for Auchun and Grosbill.
