NYFW S/S 2014: Trapped Hair

One of the more interesting beauty/styling trends to emerge from New York’s catwalks is hair that is caught and tucked into accessories such as sunglasses, chokers and scarves.

Seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Suno, Creatures of the Wind and Prabal Gurung for Spring/Summer 2014, the look was first spotted at last season’s Chanel A/W 13-14 show, where models' hair was tucked down under chunky chain necklaces. The direction has emerged from the catwalks and the street in unison, as editors and models have been snapped with their hair tucked inside coats and polo-neck sweaters after Phoebe Philo initially presented the look as a relaxed styling trend at Celine.

This season, summery neckerchiefs and scarves proved the favourite way to keep hair in place, with Marc by Marc Jacobs and Creatures of the Wind opting for choker-style scarves knotted at the neck, while Suno kept slick hair tucked under sunglasses arms for a geek-chic look.

NYFW ends today, with London Fashion Week commencing tomorrow.
