Victoria-Jungfrau Yash Chopra Suite

The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Switzerland has created a Bollywood-style suite in honour of famous Indian film director and newly-appointed Interlaken Ambassador, Yash Chopra.

The suite has been converted into a Bollywood wonderland. The walls are adorned with posters from Chopra’s award-winning film Veer-Zaara, and decadent silk fabrics and gold motifs appear throughout. Thun-based Swiss design firm Raumforum selected Indian touches for the living space, such as a lacquered white Ganesha sculpture and velour leopard-print pillow cushions. An Indian tea service is also available.

Luxury Swiss hotel group, the Victoria-Jungfrau Collection is aiming to establish its brand in the Indian market. The group has introduced various travel packages for every segment of the Asian market. The group recently entered into a strategic joint marketing alliance with The Indian Hotels Company to develop cross-promotional opportunities for both hotel groups.

The hotel group seems wise to pander to Indian tastes, with more than 400,00 overnight visitors to Switzerland coming from India in 2010 – a figure which Switzerland Tourism predicts to rise by 25% over the course of this year.
