The Waikiki Edition Opens

Hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriot International's Edition hotel opened today on Waikiki beach, Hawaii.

The partnership between Schrager and Marriot group will see the former handling the new hotel brand's creative direction  while the latter will manage and operate Edition properties due to open in Istanbul, Mexico City, Barcelona, Bangkok and Miami.

The 353-room hotel has been designed in collaboration with architects George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. Like many other Schrager properties (The Gramercy Park Hotel), the Waikiki Edition places an emphasis on art throughout its public spaces. In the lobby, a wall-to-wall installation made from over 100 surfboards collected and produced by artist Herbie Fletcher will welcome guests. Meanwhile, rotating art and video installations by local artists will feature heavily in the Lobby Bar area through to the second floor.

Room rates start from $375 per night.
