Nestle’s Category-Changing No-Added-Sugar Chocolate Bar

Neatly ticking the health, sustainability and innovation boxes, Nestle has crafted a chocolate bar that contains zero added sugar by using the white pulp that coats cocoa beans as a natural sweetener. The resulting dark chocolate bar contains 40% less sugar than similar bars with added sugar.

Much of the pulp, which is white and fleshy, is often sacrificed during the production process. However, the Swiss multinational's creative use of this overlooked ingredient cuts down on food waste and utilises a delicious edible by-product.

The chocolate bar will be initially released in Japan this Autumn, with further roll-outs to follow on a more global scale.
