My Number Music Video by Foals

UK-based multi-disciplinary design studio Us has directed a compelling new music video for British indie rock act Foals. Titled My Number, the video uses 3D motion-capture renderings to portray the band as a mass of computer-generated numerical dots.

As the video develops, the dots join up to reveal the outlines of the band and their instruments in triangulated forms. The reduced aesthetic continues into vast cityscapes, landscapes and soon an entire dot-to-dot world. The off-white background is enlivened when bright coloured lines start to animate the dots.

The video presents a fresh approach to moving image and connects to the strong visual aesthetic of wireframe structures and mathematical grids, as presented in Stylus’ colour rationale for Autumn/Winter 2013-14, Wire Frames.
