As explored in How to Incentivise Hospitality: Leisure & Hospitality Focus, hotels and travel businesses are partnering up to offer guests outstanding loyalty packages. British brand Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has partnered with global boutique hotel specialist Mr & Mrs Smith to form a new alliance.

Beginning in early 2020, members of IHG’s loyalty club IHG Rewards will be able to claim and spend points when they stay at any one of Mr & Mrs Smith’s 500 luxury properties around the world. IHG rewards members also receive free room upgrades whenever available, as well as a free gift on arrival at each Mr & Mrs Smith hotel, called a Smith Extra.

Hotels available as part of this joint venture include British fashion designer Jasper Conran’s riad hideaway L'Hôtel Marrakech in Morocco, 18th-century authentic Tuscan estate Borgo Pignano in Italy, and Himalayan retreat The Kumaon in India.

The partnership with Mr & Mrs further boosts IHG’s luxury offering, following its acquisition of US boutique group Kimpton Hotels and global luxury hotel brand Six Senses in early 2019.
